Petaling Jaya, 18 July 2023 – Honda Malaysia (or the Company) today announced that its best-selling model, the City will be launched with a facelifted model, which is open for booking beginning today at all Honda dealerships in Malaysia. With the concept of “The Best Gets Better”, the New City offers customers a stylish design, advanced features, and powerful powertrain which will further uplift the New City in the B-Segment. The New City is expected to launch in Q3 2023 in Malaysia.
Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hironobu Yoshimura said, “In 2020, Honda Malaysia launched the 5th Generation City to a very receptive market. That year, we also raised the bar for our best-selling model by introducing the City RS e:HEV for the first time. So far, more than 68,600 units of the 5th Generation City have been sold since its launch, while in the first half of 2023, we have sold more than 10,000 units. Truly, this iconic Honda model has proven to be a favourite in its segment amongst Malaysians.”
The exterior appearance of the New City has been designed to bring its existing cutting‑edge design to an even higher level. It reflects the sophistication and ambitious lifestyle of its owners, who are looking for a well-designed yet practical vehicle. The New City e:HEV RS is longer with a refreshed bumper design, measuring 4,589mm in length; 1,748mm in width and 1,467mm in height. The New City RS receives several exterior upgrades consisting of new Honeycomb Front Grille, new Front Lower Grille, new Rear Diffuser, new Side Skirting, and a newly designed “RS” emblem. The sporty appearance of the New City RS is further elevated with new Front Bumper, new Rear Bumper and newly designed 16-inch Dual-Tone Alloy Wheels.
The New City e:HEV RS is powered by a 1.5L e:HEV powertrain that combines two electric motors coupled with an Electric Continuous Variable Transmission (e-CVT), producing a perfect combination of power and fuel efficiency. The highly efficient e:HEV powertrain in the New City produces 109PS of maximum output and 253Nm torque which is the most powerful torque in its class and equivalent to D-segment Naturally Aspirated engine torque.
