Shah Alam, 2 February 2018 – Honda Malaysia recently completed the Phase 2 expansion of the Parts Warehouse in Bukit Jelutong to further support the rising after-sales demand, which grew in tandem with the increased sales and service intakes. The expansion of Honda Malaysia Parts Warehouse not only increases storage space but also improves warehousing operations, speeds up delivery of parts to dealers and customers as well as accommodates the company’s future business growth.

Honda Malaysia invested RM11 million to expand the storage capacity of the current warehouse to a total build up area of 21,700 square metres. The warehouse supports the parts requirements of the 93 Honda dealers in Malaysia, sits on a 50,000 square metres land and was opened in 2012.

Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Toichi Ishiyama said, “Honda Malaysia has recorded remarkable sales growth and service intakes in the last four years and this in turn has translated into an increasing demand for spare parts. This expansion is timely as sales of spare parts have experienced a growth of 32% while demand arising from body and paint activities rose by 48% in 2017 against the 2016 records. With this expanded warehouse, we will be able to deliver parts in a timely manner to dealers, towards providing better customer service.”

The Phase 2 expansion of the Parts Warehouse will see a restructuring of stock placement, locations within the warehouse and the optimisation of space to ramp up efficiency and capacity. This includes placing fast moving and frequent pick-up items near outgoing area to reduce travel time during parts pick-up and minimize the movement of fork-lift and therefore, enable staff to work at high operation efficiency. At the same time, the storage operations now maximize available spaces which were previously unutilized. The operation as well is a lot faster with the implementation of bar code system for items that are already pre-packed and pre-labeled from suppliers, which require only verification upon arrival for immediate update into system.

The simplified process and improved capacity are complemented by another proactive step which is by undertaking night delivery of parts to dealers or outlets. Honda Malaysia also implemented delivery using motorcycles for small parts. All these affirmative steps are put in place to ensure dealers receive the parts promptly, do not interrupt their operations and contribute towards serving customers better.

The expansion also encompassed an environmentally friendly practice where all packaging materials are recycled to eliminate disposal and waste.
