Petaling Jaya, 11 May 2017 – Honda Malaysia (or the Company) today announced that the New Jazz is now open for bookings at all 90 authorized Honda dealers nationwide. The New Jazz, both Petrol and Sport Hybrid are expected to hit the Malaysian market in Q2 2017 with the Sport Hybrid variant ready for delivery to customers from Q3 2017 onwards.

Since its introduction in 2003, the Jazz has sold over 77,700 units in Malaysia. 60% of the total sales were contributed by the current 3rd Generation Jazz introduced in 2014 which was the best hatchback in the segment. Honda Malaysia’s sales figures for January - April 2017 shows that Jazz contributed 13% of the total sales achieved with over 4,400 units sold, retaining the No. 1 position in its segment.

Honda Malaysia achieved a milestone back in the year 2004 being the pioneer automotive company to introduce the Hybrid technology to Malaysians and another milestone was unlocked upon becoming the 1st manufacturer in Malaysia and 3rd country after Japan and The United States of America to produce Hybrid vehicles locally in the year 2012. Now, to further excite the market with Honda’s advanced technology and fulfill the market demand, the New Jazz Hybrid will be equipped with the Sport Hybrid system, making Honda Malaysia the only country outside of Japan to introduce Honda’s new intelligent Dual-Clutch Drive (i-DCD) Hybrid System.

The New Jazz Hybrid will be equipped with a new 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC engine combining 7-Speed Dual Clutch Transmission with integrated High Power Motor promotes superior acceleration with improved response resulting in sporty drive feel for the driver. The independent positioning and functionality of the motor and the engine in the New Jazz Hybrid allows the vehicle to develop Electric Vehicle (EV) mode drivability and elongate the sustenance of regenerative energy which further increases the fuel efficiency of the vehicle.

The Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) of the New Jazz Hybrid is made of Lithium ion (Li-ion) battery which has a higher capacity for better performance. The battery is integrated under the boot floor area without compromising the seat versatility. Compared to its predecessor [the Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system], the IPU is power packed, giving double its system output and 1.5 times its energy capacity while being lighter and more compact in size. The capacity of the IPU to withhold power for a longer period of time allows prolonged utilization of EV mode. The combined horsepower of both the system and engine for the New Jazz Hybrid is at 137PS which is equivalent to 1.8L engine output. The handling and agility of the New Jazz Hybrid was further enhanced by fine tuning done on the electric power steering to provide sportier handling and comfort during cruising.

Taking on the successful path of its predecessor, the New Jazz is poised to continue raising the bar for the hatchback segment with more value added features. This revolutionary hatchback is a smart choice for customers of all ages and different needs for lifestyle with its offerings of practicality, class-leading versatility and stylish exterior outlook. Customers will be happy to note that Honda has taken into account their various feedbacks on the current Jazz and incorporated the desires of their valued customers into the New Jazz with excellent value for money features and fun to drive elements for everyone.

The New Jazz (Petrol) which is being powered by 1.5L i-VTEC engine coupled with Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) developed under Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology will feature new Chrome Front Grille, new Front and Rear Bumper Design, Dual Tone Colour Alloy Wheel and LED Daytime Running Lights for enhanced stylish outlook. The Smart Entry and Push Start Button will be the standard feature across all variant. Half-Leather Seats and Reverse Camera will also be available for customer comfort and convenience.

The New Jazz will carry the signature feature of Ultra Seats which has become popularly synonymous with the Jazz. The 4 modes of the Ultra Seats which are Utility, Long, Tall and Refresh are well-known for its versatility and ability to convert to the different modes based on customer needs for prolonged convenience and space desire.

The extensive safety features being offered in the Jazz are also the reason for the model to remain class-leading. The New Jazz will come equipped with Brake Assist (BA), Anti-Braking System (ABS), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) and Hill Start Assist (HSA).
