Fire Incident At Honda's Supplier Warehouse
In Malacca

Petaling Jaya, 13 Aug 2015 – Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (Honda Malaysia or the Company) today informed that there was a fire incident at their supplier’s warehouse (Nistrans Malaysia) in Malacca on 3rd August 2015. Nistrans Malaysia provides logistic and warehouse management services to Honda Malaysia. Their warehouse in Malacca stores all of Honda’s CKD parts.

90% of the 130,000 square feet warehouse was damaged and an estimated 2,500 units of Honda CKD parts were affected by the fire. The fire was put out within 5 hours. Fortunately, there was no casualty and no one was injured in the incident. Investigations are still being carried out at the warehouse.

Due to this incident, Honda’s No. 1 Line had to halt production for 4 days while the production at the No. 2 Line was affected for 6 days. Currently, the production on both lines have been resumed. Honda Malaysia will carefully monitor the parts supply situation and analyse its impact on the production schedule.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia Mr. Yoichiro Ueno said, “We are very sorry to hear about the fire and the loss experienced by our supplier. We are currently working closely with Nistrans to assist in any way possible. Rest assured that we at Honda are working hard and doing all that we can to minimise the impact of this unforeseen circumstance towards our customers.” Honda Malaysia will continue its effort in confirming the overall impact of the fire incident on its production and carefully examine the situation.
