Civic Type R - Safety

Pushing the limits safely

Control the car as you please. Even under the most extreme circumstances, it performs with high efficiency. It has an advanced interface that is able to inform the driver of proper seating positions and driving conditions. The Civic Type R is also built to prevent and withstand accidents as much as possible.

Active Safety

The settings in its Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) system is tuned to circuit driving, so you'll have enhanced steering control under hard braking and in slippery conditions.

And when you're driving at night, you will have clear visibility from the automatic levelling mechanism in the High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights. Meanwhile, an LED type high-mount brake light makes other drivers aware of you.

Passive Safety

  • SRS Airbags

    i-SRS Air Bag System

Two Intelligent Sensor Control (i-SRS) front airbags incorporate a dual stage, dual threshold design. This measures impact energy and seat belt use to ensure the safest possible deployment.

  • G-CON Technology

    G-CON Technology

G-Force Control absorbs crash energy through crumple zones while maintaining safety for occupants. The frame structure is built to effectively absorb and disperse collision energy. In addition, Honda's Advanced Compatibility Engineering not only increases protection on your car but also to the other vehicle.

3-point, load-limiting ELR Seat Belts

Front seats are equipped with 3-point seat belts that work with an Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) system equipped with pretensioners that automatically tighten and lock in a head-on collision.

ISO FIX Corresponding Child Seat Bar

ISO FIX compatible child seat anchoring bars and tether belt anchor plates are standard on the rear seat so a child seat can be installed easily and holds down effectively even in a collision.
